The Memorial Red Devils won the last time they faced the Liberty Leopards, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Memorial walked away with a 55-45 victory over Liberty. Given Memorial's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 317th, while Liberty is ranked 729th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Memorial was led to victory by Teyon Harris and David Moore. Harris scored 19 points, while Moore dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Harris scored 15 or more points.
When it comes to explaining why Liberty lost, one person who can't be blamed is Evan Bates. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with two steals. Bates hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Luke Bates was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.
Memorial has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Liberty, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Memorial will take on Crestview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crestview is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Liberty, they will be playing at home against Brookfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Brookfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday.
