The St. Paul Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 62-29 loss at the hands of Malcolm. While losing is never fun, St. Paul can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Malcolm is ranked 34th).
Despite the loss, St. Paul still got an impressive performance from Gracie Kelley, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Malcolm got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Keira Farritor out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Farritor scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Dolliver, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
St. Paul has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Malcolm, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Paul will take on Centura at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Centura has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Malcolm, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nebraska City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Nebraska City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
