The Northside Christian Academy Knights will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Indian Land Warriors at 12:30 p.m. on December 27th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Northside Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Carmel Christian, taking the game 55-44.
Kyrell Shaw was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. The contest was his 15th in a row with at least ten points. Arael Jones was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Indian Land unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak last Saturday. They fell just short of Victory Christian Center by a score of 59-56. Indian Land found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 16 to 5 on offense.
Despite the loss, Indian Land saw an underclassman step up: Michael Jones scored 25 points. Jones scored a full 44.6% of Indian Land's points, the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Drakeford, who scored 11 points.
Northside Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Indian Land, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-2.
Wednesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Northside Christian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 23.9 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Indian Land, though, as they've been averaging only 22.8 rebounds per game. Given Northside Christian Academy's sizeable advantage in that area, Indian Land will need to find a way to close that gap.
