Softball Recap: Prairie Central Has No Trouble Against Fieldcrest

After only one run in their last matchup, Prairie Central made sure to put some runs up on the board against Fieldcrest on Friday. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 21-3 margin over the Knights. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Dixie Hogan was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Sam Slagel was a standout: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Miranda Hari was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Prairie Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Prairie Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-14 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Fieldcrest, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Coming up, Prairie Central will square off against LeRoy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fieldcrest, they will face off against Hall at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
