Basketball Recap: Hailee Daigle's Big Game Can't Quite Lead North Putnam over Owen Valley

North Putnam was the 52-49 winner over Owen Valley when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The North Putnam Cougars took a 66-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Owen Valley Patriots on Friday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

North Putnam lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Hailee Daigle, who posted six points along with six assists and six rebounds. That's the most assists Daigle has posted since back in November of 2024. Jacy Huffman was another key player, going 5 of 8 en route to 13 points.

Aubrey Sparks continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Owen Valley, going 16 for 25 on her way to 42 points and eight boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which Sparks has scored at least a third of Owen Valley's points. Another player making a difference was Mallory Owen, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

North Putnam's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Owen Valley, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7.

North Putnam wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 50-32 win against Brown County on the 25th. As for Owen Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-47 defeat against White River Valley on the 28th.
