Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Blue Valley West Jaguars, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They suffered a rough 35-14 defeat at the hands of Olathe North on Friday. Blue Valley West was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Crew Myers and Tate Nagy certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Myers picked up 219 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Nagy threw for 267 yards and a touchdown.
It was another big night for Tj Porter, who rushed for 186 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also picked up 39 receiving yards. Porter is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played.
Olathe North's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Nate Gunderson and his two sacks.
Blue Valley West has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Olathe North, their win was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 9-1.
Blue Valley West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Olathe North will take on Blue Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Blue Valley is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
