The Brownell Talbot Raiders will take on the College View Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Brownell Talbot fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took down Parkview Christian 48-31 on Tuesday.
Brownell Talbot relied on the efforts of Abbi Gibbs, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Avery Nichols, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Gibbs has scored at least a third of Brownell Talbot's points. Another player making a difference was Nya Ping, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but College View Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 41-40 photo finish over Cedar Bluffs. The score was all tied up 15-15 at the break, but College View Academy was the better team in the second half.
Brownell Talbot's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for College View Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Brownell Talbot was able to grind out a solid win over College View Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 25-12. Will Brownell Talbot repeat their success, or does College View Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
