The Bowne Wildcats waltzed into their match Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took down Washington Heights Expeditionary 62-44. Given Bowne's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Washington Heights Expeditionary is ranked 618th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bowne's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Christopher Judge led the charge by going 7 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 33 points and 4 assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Judge has scored at least 25% of Bowne's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Salmon, who scored seven points along with 18 rebounds and seven blocks.
Bowne is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Washington Heights Expeditionary, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bowne will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Far Rockaway at 5:00 p.m. on January 11th. Far Rockaway is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Washington Heights Expeditionary, they will head out on the road to face off against Truman at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Truman is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
