In what's become a running theme this season, the Gibbs Gladiators gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 61-13 victory over Northeast. The team accrued 52 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.
Gibbs was led to victory by Messiah Cook and Peyton Flournoy. Cook scored 19 points, while Flournoy scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cook has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Zacoya Grant, who scored ten points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Northeast struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Gibbs' win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Northeast, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gibbs will take on Largo at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Largo will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 368th, while Gibbs is ranked 115th). As for Northeast, they will be playing at home against Hollins at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hollins is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
