Basketball Recap: Riley Minton Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

Florence Christian had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 20-point drubbing they dealt Faith Christian on Monday. The Florence Christian Eagles blew past the Faith Christian Knights 69-49. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Florence Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Riley Minton, who went 7 of 11 en route to 20 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Minton a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Greene, who went 8 of 11 on his way to 20 points and five assists.

Faith Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Yannik Hulsmeyer, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Brown, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 15 points and three steals.

The victory got Florence Christian back to even at 6-6. As for Faith Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Florence Christian will face off against Christian Academy at 7:45 p.m. on January 7th. As for Faith Christian, they will square off against Lowcountry Leadership at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Faith Christian is facing Lowcountry Leadership at the right time seeing as Lowcountry Leadership is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
