Owyhee is a perfect 6-0 against Borah since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Storm will face off against the Lions at 6:30 p.m. Owyhee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Owyhee took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Boise 14-1. The Storm haven't had any issues with the Brave recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Owyhee got a great performance from Bryce Tam as he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. Tam has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gage Haws, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jack Hallenbeck, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Owyhee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boise only posted an OBP of .300.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Borah nor Mountain View made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Lions came up short against the Mavericks, falling 7-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Lions have suffered since May 8, 2024.
Brady Robinson put in work no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Robinson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Owyhee's win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 7.5 runs this season. As for Borah, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.
Borah's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Owyhee hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. It's a different story for Borah, though, as they've only averaged .221. Will they be able to contain Owyhee's hitters?
Owyhee skirted past Borah 4-3 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Storm since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
