East Valley recap Sept. 26, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Monroe, who took down 1016th ranked Chavez, 50-48. Luis Dorame threw for 365 yards and five touchdowns and ran for 115 yards in the win.
Arleta extended the longest winning streak in East Valley this week by beating Grant, 42-20. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Mustangs.
Antjuan Farmer was the best wideout in the league this week as the Vikings topped Chavez. Farmer racked up 11 receptions for 291 yards. Kenzel Bell helped Monroe's passing attack out by catching two balls for 54 yards.
Andres Velasquez made the biggest impact on defense this week as Monroe bested Chavez. The 6-foot-0 strong safety grabbed two interceptions, forced one fumble, recorded one fumble and grabbed three sacks.
Antoine Taylor was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 116 yards as North Hollywood defeated Chavez. Jonathan Weeks also contributed to the rushing game with 65 yards on the ground.
The Vikings' Dorame and Farmer have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading East Valley in both passing and receiving yards. Dorame has thrown for 1467 yards this season, while Farmer, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 42 catches for 822 yards. GENTRY CHRISTOPHER C from the Lancers leads the league in rushing with 311 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Poly takes on Arleta. The Parrots are in sixth place, while Dan Kelley's team is in first place.
The Huskies moved up to 646 from 757 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 41-0 win over Poly helped North Hollywood improve its standing.
