Trinity Christian Academy has won 14 straight games at home, while Berkeley Prep has won 14 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 10:00 a.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Trinity Christian Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup last Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bozeman, sneaking past 10-9. Ten seems to be a good number for the Conquerors as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Tyler Ellis was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Aiden Arnett was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Brady Harris #2 was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Berkeley Prep sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Bishop McLaughlin Catholic last Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Buccaneers have posted against the Hurricanes since March 10, 2022.
Like Trinity Christian Academy, Berkeley Prep also got a great game from a two-way player: Parker Mitzel. He didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. Mitzel was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joseph Troupe, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run was his first of the season.
Trinity Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Berkeley Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 25-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Trinity Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Berkeley Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Trinity Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Berkeley Prep in their previous meeting back in February of 2015, winning 4-0. Do the Conquerors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Buccaneers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
