The Chester Yellowjackets will venture away from home to challenge the Brookeland Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Chester's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Burkeville 17-0. That looming 17-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Yellowjackets yet this season.
Sadie Garsee was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Garsee was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Allie Ogden, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Tegan Toler, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Chester was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .722. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brookeland). They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Zavalla on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.
Paige Powell was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Kaelyn Strother was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Brookeland now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Chester, their record is now 3-11-1.
Brookeland's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Chester hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. It's a different story for Brookeland, though, as they've only averaged .235. Will they be able to contain Chester's hitters?
Chester suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to Brookeland in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
