The Splendora Wildcats will face off against the Huntsville Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Splendora has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with seven straight defeats, while Huntsville will come in with three straight wins.
It was a proper cat-fight when Splendora took on Lake Creek on Thursday. The Wildcats were dealt a 54-19 loss at the hands of the Lions. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 736th, while the Lions are ranked 174th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tj Burch, who picked up 210 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Brayden Hinton was another key passer, throwing for 274 yards and two TDs.
Meanwhile, Huntsville strolled past Nederland with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 35-21.
Splendora better keep an eye on Traeshawn Brown. He was instrumental in Huntsville's win, rushing for 210 yards and three scores while picking up 13.1 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards Brown has posted since back in September of 2024. Jerious Singletary was in the mix too, providing Huntsville with one touchdown.
Huntsville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 310 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 152 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Huntsville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kadon Moebes and Jarmiah Peterson. Peterson also made eight total tackles, which is notable because Huntsville is 3-1 when he posts at least four total tackles, but 2-3 otherwise. Brenton Carroll was another major factor on D, making 20 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass.
Huntsville now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Splendora, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Splendora took a serious blow against Huntsville when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 42-12. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other football content.
