The Pickett County Bobcats came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 65-59 win over Red Boiling Springs. Given Pickett County's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 269th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pickett County was led to victory by Jacob Amonett and Nathaniel Cobb. Amonett scored 18 points along with five rebounds, while Cobb scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Amonett has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Reagan, who scored five points along with two steals.
Pickett County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Red Boiling Springs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pickett County will take on the Buffaloes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Clarkrange focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Saturday. As for Red Boiling Springs, they will be playing at home against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Monroe County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully the Bulldogs like a good challenge.
