The Estero Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Community School of Naples Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Estero 4.1, Community School of Naples 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Estero will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Naples, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Estero sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Naples on Friday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Drue Overmyer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.
In other batting news, Evan Goeller was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Rylan Greenleaf, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Community School of Naples didn't have quite enough to beat Cooper City on Friday and fell 2-1.
Like Estero, Community School of Naples also got a great game from a two-way player: Nathan Rapp. He struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Those 11 strikeouts gave Rapp a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Estero's record now sits at 11-6. As for Community School of Naples, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Estero has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Community School of Naples struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Estero came out on top in a nail-biter against Community School of Naples when the teams last played back in March of 2022, sneaking past 4-2. Will Estero repeat their success, or does Community School of Naples has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
