The Argo Argonauts will square off against the Crete-Monee Warriors at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Argo will bounce into Saturday's game after beating Bremen, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Argonauts walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Braves on Thursday. The Argonauts haven't had any issues with the Braves recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Scott Forston, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 11 contests. Brennan Mackessy was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Argo hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Crete-Monee entered their tilt with Thornwood on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Thunderbirds with a sharp 14-4 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by seven runs or more this season.
Crete-Monee also got a great performance from Dylan Dee as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched.
At the plate, Bren Milburn was incredible, going 3-for-5 with six stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Crete-Monee is 10-1 when Milburn posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Timothy Gaddis, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Crete-Monee's win bumped their record up to 15-10. As for Argo, their victory bumped their record up to 11-15.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Argo has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Crete-Monee struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Argo couldn't quite finish off Crete-Monee in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 8-6. Will the Argonauts have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
