Ozarks recap September 4, 2013
Camdenton scored a shocking upset when it eliminated Hillcrest, 17-14. At the time, the Hornets were ranked 23rd in the state, while the Lakers were 32nd.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Parkview, who defeated 46th ranked Parkview, 39-25.
The Vikings' dynamic duo of Anthony Gilliland and Connor Ratcliff proved tough for Kickapoo to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gilliland threw for 256 yards and 2 touchdowns and Ratcliff had 134 yards receiving. Logan Poling helped Parkview's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 67 yards.
Parkview's dynamic duo of Gilliland and Ratcliff proved to be unstoppable against the Chiefs, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Ratcliff was the best wideout in Ozarks this week as Anthony Hays' team fell to Kickapoo.
Gilliland put up the best numbers through the air as the Vikings fell to Joel Wells' team.
Elza Evans was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 148 yards as Lebanon lost to the Chiefs. Teammate Carson Lybarger added to the ground attack by rushing for 61 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Vikings' Gilliland and Ratcliff have proven to be a lethal combination. Gilliland has thrown for 256 yards this season, while Ratcliff has 8 catches for 134 yards. Evans from the Yellowjackets leads the league in rushing with 148 yards.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when Parkview's Ratcliff goes up against Joplin's Adam Norsworthy.
Next week's game between the Vikings and the Eagles will feature an aerial matchup as Gilliland tests his arm against Norsworthy's defensive ability.
One of Ozarks' premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Parkview and Joplin face off next week.
An important game coming up this the league this week will be when Camdenton takes on West Plains. At the moment, the Lakers are in fifth, while the Zizzers are in first.
Camdenton was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Hillcrest. The Lakers came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 32 last week.
