Tipton extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-11. They came up short against the Northwestern Tigers, falling 22-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 13-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.
Ella Lobeck put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in May of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Lobeck wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Makenna Comer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Northwestern, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
Like Tipton, Northwestern also got a great game from a two-way player: Kruiz Giles. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Giles a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addy Clark, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, four runs, and three doubles. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Avery Madden also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Coming up, Tipton will face off against Madison-Grant at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Argylls have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.33 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Northwestern, they will be playing at home against Culver Community at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavaliers have averaged an impressive 12.5 runs per game this season.
