Softball Recap: Westfield Wins Going Away Against Chantilly

Westfield was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Chantilly on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Chargers. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Morgan Mills spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lizzy Laurelli, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Schmid, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Westfield now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Chantilly, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.
