The Martin Luther King Cougars will play host again and welcome High School of the Future, where tip off is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Martin Luther King lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Thursday was a bit more commanding. They had to suffer through a rough 88-54 loss at the hands of Benjamin Franklin. While losing is never fun, Martin Luther King can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 463rd, while Benjamin Franklin is ranked 211th).
Despite the loss, Martin Luther King saw an underclassman step up: Benito Scott scored 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Scott has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Makhai Robinson, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, High School of the Future was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 57-51 to Roxborough. High School of the Future has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Martin Luther King's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-4. As for High School of the Future, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Martin Luther King against High School of the Future in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 67-39 win. Will Martin Luther King repeat their success, or does High School of the Future have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
