Snake River hasn't had much luck against Preston recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Panthers will challenge the Indians at 3:30 p.m.
Snake River came into this matchup off a tough nine-run defeat on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Firth by a score of 7-5 on Saturday. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Cougars since Saturday.
Mailee Nash spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Chloe Leavitt was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Preston put another one in the bag last Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Columbia 19-3. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won six matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Preston let Chloe Dunn and Tess Jones run wild. Dunn went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles, while Jones went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, Jones is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Oakley Hatch was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Preston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Snake River's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Preston, their record now sits at 8-0.
Snake River might still be hurting after the 30-11 defeat they got from Preston in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
