Freeport is 0-10 against Harlem since May of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Pretzels will face off against the Huskies at 5:00 p.m.
On Thursday, Freeport didn't have quite enough to beat Belvidere and fell 6-5. The Pretzels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Quinn Krzeminiski was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. Hannah Stott was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Harlem made easy work of Rockford Auburn on Monday and carried off a 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Rylie Adams made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. Adams was also solid in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Maddy Merschman and Adriah Sholl did most of the damage at the plate: Merschman went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Sholl went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Merschman has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Burbach, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Harlem was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rockford Auburn only posted a batting average of .259.
Harlem has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Freeport, their loss dropped their record down to 7-22.
Freeport might still be hurting after the 10-1 defeat they got from Harlem when the teams last played on May 6th. Can the Pretzels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
