Even though the Shaw Raiders scored an imposing 59 points on Thursday, the Hardaway Hawks still came out on top. Hardaway took their matchup against Shaw 69-59. This was payback for Hardaway, who suffered a 53-51 loss the last time these two teams met.
Hardaway had a senior duo take command as Lamell Mims dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds and Mekhi Benton scored 19 points along with three steals. The game was Benton's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Antonio Dortch, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Hardaway is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Shaw, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.
Hardaway and McIntosh will face off at 12:30 p.m. on December 28th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Shaw will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Northside at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Northside has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 11.
