Becker has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the North Branch Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, Becker made easy work of St. Francis and carried off a 72-51 victory. Given Becker's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while St. Francis is ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Becker's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josh Groskreutz led the charge by scoring 15 points along with three steals. The match was Groskreutz's third in a row with at least ten points. Connor Gass was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, North Branch unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 80-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Big Lake.
Becker's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for North Branch, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-1.
Becker came out on top in a nail-biter against North Branch in their previous meeting back in February, sneaking past 68-65. Does Becker have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Branch turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
