The Benjamin Russell Wildcats had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past Hueytown 47-27. Considering Benjamin Russell has won six games by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Gabriel Benton got back to being his usual excellent self, as he threw for 402 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Malcolm Simmons, who picked up 243 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The victory was the eighth in a row for Benjamin Russell, bringing their record for this year to 10-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.4 points per game. As for Hueytown, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Benjamin Russell will take on Pike Road at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pike Road is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games. Hueytown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
