Softball Recap: Lincoln Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lancaster, Lincoln was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Olentangy Berlin Bears 7-6. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Grace Miller made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Miller was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Gabby Esterby and Kira Bailey did most of the damage at the plate: Esterby went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Bailey went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Esterby has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Madi Hall, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 11-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Lincoln's victory bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Olentangy Berlin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season.

Lincoln will challenge Teays Valley at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Olentangy Berlin, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 13-8 loss against Olentangy Orange on the 10th.
