The Osbourn Eagles can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They walked away with a 53-42 victory over Park View. The win was just what Osbourn needed coming off of a 68-39 defeat in their prior match.
Osbourn was led to victory by Rhyannon Stanley and Irieanna Smoot. Stanley dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds, while Smoot scored 24 points along with seven steals. The match was Smoot's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Boateng, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Park View lost, one person who can't be blamed is Anna Helstrom. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with seven assists and three steals. The game was Helstrom's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Carly Earnhart was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Park View struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Osbourn pulled down 17 offensive rebounds.
Osbourn's win ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-6-1. As for Park View, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
Osbourn will be playing in front of their home fans against Freedom at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Freedom presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Osbourn in Virginia (Freedom is ranked 75th, while Osbourn is ranked 292nd). As for Park View, they will head out on the road to face off against Broad Run at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Broad Run will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
