Softball Recap: Teutopolis Extends Winning Streak to Three

Teutopolis had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Wooden Shoes have won four matches by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Jersey Gaddis made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Kera Hartke was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Reagan Slater also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Teutopolis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Teutopolis' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Teutopolis wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Flora on the 15th. As for Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, they will venture away from home to take on Altamont at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 1.1 runs per game this season, so the Bobcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
