On Friday, things could have been worse for Pawhuska, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 53-38 loss to Preston. While losing is never fun, Pawhuska can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while Preston is ranked 39th).
Pawhuska lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Trenton Miles, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Miles scored a full 26.3% of Pawhuska's points, the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Snodgrass, who scored six points.
Pawhuska's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3. As for Preston, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pawhuska and Wesleyan Christian will face off on January 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wesleyan Christian will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Preston and Frontier will face off on January 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Frontier is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
