Lakota West has gone a perfect 10-0 against Colerain recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Firebirds will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. Lakota West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Lakota West got the win against Princeton by a conclusive 11-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Firebirds.
Lyla Gully spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Liz Meyer was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Beimesche, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Lakota West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Colerain lost 19-2 to Oak Hills on Monday. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Colerain saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexa Hartwig, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Lakota West now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Colerain, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.
Colerain's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lakota West has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Colerain, though, as they've been averaging 9.9 hits. Given Lakota West's sizable advantage in that area, the Cardinals will need to find a way to close that gap.
Lakota West took their victory against Colerain when the teams last played back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 19-1 score. Do the Firebirds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
