Trimble had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-6 to make it seven. They fell just short of the Belpre Golden Eagles by a score of 5-3. The Tomcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Golden Eagles earlier this season, when they won 8-5.
J Davis put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Davis was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season.
Davis wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Kasler, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Kasler has hit this season. B Burdette was another, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
As for Belpre, they now have a winning record of 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 17, 2024.
On Belpre's side, Makayla Carmichael spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. Carmichael has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Lucy Ruble was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Wolfe, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Trimble will be playing in front of their home fans against Millersport at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Belpre, they will face off against Warren at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
