After a string of nine wins, Glenwood's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the Lee-Scott Academy Warriors by a score of 66-63. The Gators were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 67-65.
Glenwood's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jadarian Holloway, who went 8 for 16 on his way to 21 points. With that strong performance, Holloway is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Trey Claridy also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
Even though they lost, Glenwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lee-Scott Academy only pulled down four offensive boards.
Haiden Harper continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lee-Scott Academy, going 10 of 17 en route to 27 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Barrett Cook, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points and seven boards.
Glenwood's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 19-6. As for Lee-Scott Academy, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4.
Coincidentally, both will both be playing Beulah the next time they take the court. Lee-Scott Academy will head out to face Beulah on Tuesday, while Glenwood will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
