Basketball Recap: Bridgeprep Village Green Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

BridgePrep Village Green won against Palm Glades Prep Academy last Thursday with 58 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. The BridgePrep Village Green Bulldogs came out on top against the Pinecrest Prep Crocs by a score of 58-45. The win was familiar territory for the Bulldogs who have now won five matches in a row.

BridgePrep Village Green's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brandon Pelaez, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds. Pelaez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Pedro Ferreira, who posted six points in addition to 13 rebounds and eight assists.

BridgePrep Village Green smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Pinecrest Prep's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaron Castellon, who had six points along with five assists and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Castellon a new career-high in blocks (three). Andy Garcia was another key player, putting up 15 points.

BridgePrep Village Green's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Pinecrest Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

BridgePrep Village Green will head out to challenge Somerset Academy South Homestead at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pinecrest Prep, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sunset at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pinecrest Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.1 points per game this season.
