East Central HomeSchool hasn't had much luck against Evangel Christian recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Patriots will host the Lightning at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
East Central HomeSchool will bounce into Monday's match after beating Ezekiel Academy, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Patriots came out on top against the Knights by a score of 12-8 on Thursday.
Cade Best and Levi Jett did most of the damage at the plate: Best went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Jett went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs Best has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Davis, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
East Central HomeSchool was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ezekiel Academy only posted a batting average of .310.
Meanwhile, Evangel Christian never let their opponents score on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Wiregrass. The Lightning haven't had any issues with the Kings recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Not much got past ASHER EVANS, who gave up just five hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Wiregrass off the board. EVANS has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Evangel Christian let RALEY CURTIS and TREY HOPE run wild. CURTIS went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double, while HOPE went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Evangel Christian's win bumped their record up to 26-3. As for East Central HomeSchool, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. East Central HomeSchool has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Evangel Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
East Central HomeSchool might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Evangel Christian in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Patriots have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
