Deep Run has gone 9-1 against Hermitage recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Wildcats will host the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Deep Run is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Deep Run narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Mechanicsville 4-3. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.
Deep Run got a great performance from Parker Noonan as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Deep Run saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Saunders, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Vince Porcaro was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hermitage). They walked away with an 8-3 win over L.C. Bird on Thursday.
Sam Maxwell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bryce Jackson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brody Davis, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.
Hermitage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Deep Run pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Hermitage, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Deep Run has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hermitage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Deep Run's way against Hermitage in their previous matchup back in March, as Deep Run made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
