After a string of three wins, Canutillo's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Burges Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 3-1 loss back in August.
Canutillo was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Burges work for it, especially in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 22-25, 25-14, 26-24.
Bobbie Martin paced Canutillo's offense, picking up ten kills. Martin got some help from Sophia Ontiveros and her 39 assists. Ontiveros also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Kiera Mcrae, racking up two apiece.
Canutillo's loss dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Burges, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-4.
