The Salem Lions lost against the Madison Cubs back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Salem was dealt a 53-26 loss at the hands of Madison. Salem has not had much luck with Madison recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Madison found their leader in underclassman Juliana Davis, who scored 23 points along with 8 steals and 7 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least 25% of Madison's points. Bailey Owens was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Salem's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-4. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.0 points per game. As for Madison, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salem will take on West Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully West Washington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday. As for Madison, they will head out on the road to face off against Southwestern at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Southwestern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
