After a string of four wins, the Stonington Bears's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 68-55 loss to East Lyme. Stonington has struggled against East Lyme recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
It was another big night for Michael Timpano, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds for East Lyme. That's the first time this season that Timpano pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliver Hibbard, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Stonington's loss dropped their record down to 4-1. As for East Lyme, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Stonington will challenge Ledyard at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Lyme, they will be playing at home against Old Saybrook at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Old Saybrook is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
