Basketball Recap: BJ Paige Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Westwood Christian

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for First Assembly Christian Academy on Friday. They came out on top against the Westwood Christian Warriors by a score of 60-47. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 60-23 back in November of 2024.

First Assembly Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was BJ Paige, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten assists. Paige is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Mason Burke was another key player, putting up 20 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Paige wasn't the only one working in the assists department: First Assembly Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westwood Christian only racked up nine assists.

Westwood Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tripp Kirkland, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds. Kirkland's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Avery Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 boards.

First Assembly Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.9 points per game. As for Westwood Christian, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 11-4 record.

First Assembly Christian Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Northside Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Westwood Christian, they will head out to face off against Corinth Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Corinth Christian Academy has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 196 points over their last three matches.
