There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Part of the action? A towering 107-point combined score for McEachern and Kennesaw Mountain.
Welcome
After a timid ten display the game before, Jones County sure wasn't afraid to show off its offense last week. The final score between it and Eagle's Landing was a 42 - 7 blowout in Jones County's favor. Jones County especially relied on junior Hunter Costlow, who tossed the ball for 270 yards and three TDs, and senior Semaj Ingram, who rushed for 81 yards and scored on one reception. Thanks to its success, Jones County cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 24th spot.
Can't Touch This
Rome's 56 - 0 win over Hiram last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Jamious Griffin. Griffin rushed for 165 yards and four touchdowns. That performance made Griffin one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The confrontation between Lowndes (9th in the power rankings) and Tift County (14th) did not disappoint. Lowndes wasn't too far behind, but it still lost 21 - 17 to Tift County. One positive for Lowndes, at least, was the performance of Jacurri Brown. The talented underclassman ran for 88 yards and also punched in one touchdown.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Marietta (7th in the power rankings) and Hillgrove (6th). Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. Hillgrove and Marietta both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Hillgrove with four and Marietta with three), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
