The biggest upset of the week belonged to Weequahic, who took down 93rd ranked Central, 20-14.
Verona moved up to 89 from 120 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Super Essex - Colonial. The Hillbillies were able to make the jump by beating Montclair Kimberley Academy 55-14.
Cedar Grove's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Joe Slattery threw for 234 and two touchdowns and Mike Bocchino had 91 yards receiving. On the ground Charlie Dorman chipped in 61 yards. David Njuko helped Cedar Grove's passing attack out by catching three balls for 50 yards.
The Panthers' Slattery and Paul Rufo have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Slattery has thrown for 687 yards this season, while Rufo, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 13 catches for 262 yards. Al Ports from East Side leads the league in rushing with 306 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Cedar Grove takes on Shabazz. As it stands, the Panthers are in second, while the Bulldogs are in fifth.
Verona took down the Cougars 55-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
