When it comes to explaining why Canon City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Marcus Lipari. Despite the final result, he gained 74 total yards and two touchdowns. Colby Koehn did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in three field goals.
Discovery Canyon's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Canon City, Pueblo Centennial, and Pueblo South. As for Canon City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Discovery Canyon will face off against Pueblo East at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Pueblo East is ranked 95th, while Discovery Canyon is ranked 86th). As for Canon City, they will head out on the road to face off against Sand Creek at 6:00 p.m. on October 28th.
