Even though the NSU University Sharks have not done well against the Calvary Christian Academy Eagles recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. NSU University had just enough and edged Calvary Christian Academy out 45-43. For NSU University, this counts as revenge for the 39-35 defeat Calvary Christian Academy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
NSU University found their leader in underclassman Tatum Billie, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Billie has scored at least 25% of NSU University's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenna Cohen-osceola, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Calvary Christian Academy had strong showings from Teagan Wakefield, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Taryn Wakefield, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Wakefield also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Brianna Staples, who scored six points.
NSU University now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Calvary Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-2.
NSU University will be playing in front of their home fans against Marathon at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Boca Raton Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
