The Los Molinos Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Chester Volcanoes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Los Molinos was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Redding Christian on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers stepped up to hand the Lions a 13-0 shutout. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Addison Jones was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Jones was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Los Molinos let Natalie Martinez and Paige Williams run wild. Martinez went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Williams went 2-for-3 with four runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Martinez has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Mady Prather, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Los Molinos was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Redding Christian only posted a batting average of .067.
Meanwhile, Chester entered their tilt with Redding Christian on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 22-1 victory. The Volcanoes' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Jenna Schlueter and Brianna Dean made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Schlueter tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Meanwhile, Dean tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Schlueter went 3-for-4 with four runs and three RBI, while Dean went 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kylie Kistle was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs and four RBI. Hailey Delong was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Los Molinos' record now sits at 19-5-1. As for Chester, their record is now 14-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Los Molinos has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Chester struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Los Molinos came out on top in a nail-biter against Chester in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 10-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
