Logan is 0-7 against Northridge since March of 2016 but things could change on Saturday. The Grizzlies will head out on the road to take on the Knights at 11:00 a.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Logan has four straight victories, Northridge has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Logan will bounce into Saturday's game after beating Sky View, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Grizzlies never let the Bobcats get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Friday. The Grizzlies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Norah Zundel looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Miley Allen, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since April 1st. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Schaefer, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Logan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are 9-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Northridge and Viewmont, and Viewmont kept the tradition alive. The Knights came up short against the Vikings on Wednesday, falling 10-2.
Braylynn McClellan and Berklee Larsen did some serious damage despite the final result: McClellan went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Larsen went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Logan's record is now 15-11. As for Northridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.
Northridge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Logan has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Northridge, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Logan's sizable advantage in that area, the Knights will need to find a way to close that gap.
Logan suffered a grim 16-3 defeat to Northridge in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Grizzlies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
