Thorsby is 6-1 against Billingsley since October of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Thorsby Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Billingsley Bears at 7:00 p.m. Billingsley took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Thorsby, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Thorsby didn't have too much trouble with Vincent at home as they won 36-18. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Thorsby.
Nate Thomas and Coden Cummings were among the main playmakers for Thorsby as the former rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries and the latter rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
Thorsby's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Malachi Allgood and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Billingsley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 31-21 to Loachapoka.
Despite their defeat, Billingsley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Landon Jones, who threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground, was perhaps the best of all. Kaden Cotton was another key contributor, gaining 102 total yards and a touchdown.
Thorsby's win was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-7 Fayetteville and 3-7 Billingsley (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 44.8% over those games). As for Billingsley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Thorsby took their win against Billingsley in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 42-22. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thorsby since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
