The Roanoke Catholic Celtics struggled with offensive rebounds on Monday (the Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Roanoke Catholic fell 37-29 to Miller School of Albemarle. Roanoke Catholic lost against Miller School of Albemarle in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 82-40 score last time.
Despite the loss, Roanoke Catholic still got an impressive performance from Mickie O?Herron, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 37.9% of Roanoke Catholic's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Aaron, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Miller School of Albemarle's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ella Jackson, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ella Ott, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Roanoke Catholic now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Miller School of Albemarle, their victory bumped their record up to 6-14.
Roanoke Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against New Covenant at 5:00 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully New Covenant focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Friday. As for Miller School of Albemarle, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Steward at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Steward is coming into the match with four straight wins on the road, so Miller School of Albemarle is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
