The Smoky Mountain Mustangs won the last time they faced the East Henderson Eagles, and things went their way on Friday too. Smoky Mountain breezed by East Henderson on the road to the tune of 57-30. Given Smoky Mountain's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 180th, while East Henderson is ranked 373rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Smoky Mountain to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isaiah McNeely, who rushed for 170 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Ayden Johnson was another key contributor, rushing for 202 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
When it comes to explaining why East Henderson lost, one person who can't be blamed is James Robinson. Despite the final result, he picked up 130 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in three touchdowns on the ground.
Smoky Mountain's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for East Henderson, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Smoky Mountain will head out on the road to face off against Kings Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Henderson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
